Kitchen remodel - first problem

Well, here is our first problem with the kitchen project. This is a view inside the soffit on the south kitchen wall. Notice the duct work running through here on the upper left. There is also electrical conduit running outside of the wall studs and then diagonally to the center on the east wall.
